Winners were voted exclusively by influential Travel Advisor readers of Luxury Travel Advisor magazine. Nominees represent hotels, resorts, individuals, cruise lines, airline companies and professional services that excel at delivering memorable experiences, a hallmark of the luxury travel industry.

One of the categories is that of the "Top Luxury Boutique Hotel in Europe". For Travel Consultants who read Luxury Travel Advisor, the Brunelleschi Hotel in Florence is the best luxury boutique hotel in Europe, the only Italian hotel to have won the award at European level.

The hotel had already been nominated for this category in 2018, and was awarded the Top Luxury Boutique Hotel Worlwide in the 2016; the General Manager Mr Claudio Catani was in the 2015 the Top General Manager of the Year Worldwide.
