Events to watch: Snow Polo, Ice Cricket and White Turf on a frozen lake

Dec. 20th, 2017

The Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz 2018 from the 26th to the 28th of January 2018 is, once again, set to be a top event with spectacular polo being played and a first-rate social programme. Four international, top-flight teams will be competing for the coveted Cartier Trophy.
The tournament, created in 1985 as the world's first snow polo tournament, is held on the frozen Lake St. Moritz every January on the last weekend.
Not wanting to miss out on the opportunity to compete in the world's only high-goal tournament on snow, notable world-class players will be joining the teams. Latin America will be represented by 6 Argentinian players. Click here to find out who they are.

On 8th and 9the February 2018, St. Moritz will be the location of a new International spectacular: Ice Cricket. The “Cricket on Ice” event was actually started by the British and has been played ever since for over 25 years on the frozen lake of St. Moritz.

For the first time in cricket history, renowned international cricket legends will compete on snow and bring a new form of entertainment to the world of cricket. The Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, will be sponsoring one of the teams at St. Moritz Ice Cricket.
Why not combine this one-of-kind British event with the White Turf horse-races? This equine spectacle will take place on 4th, 11th and 18th February 2018.
From the very start, the horse-races on the frozen lake of St. Moritz met with great approval, and this fascination has lasted for generations. Throughout the years, the event has evolved with innovative ideas that have ultimately turned White Turf into the most important equestrian sports’ event and social highlight of the winter season. What started off 111 years ago as a major pioneering achievement and visionary idea on the part of racing sport enthusiasts, today occupies a significant place on the international racing calendar.
Prior to the races and during the intervals, the tent city on the frozen lake of St. Moritz suggests excellent entertainment for the whole family with live music, exhibitors and culinary delights on offer. We also recommend that spectators visit the betting tent: even a small flutter increases the fun factor and the excitement during the races
