Florence, 17th February 2021 – Forbes Travel Guide (“FTG”), the only global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas, today announced its 2021 Star Awards. The Brunelleschi Hotel earned a new Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Award and is showcased with other honourees on ForbesTravelGuide.com.
"The Brunelleschi Hotel" – says Forbes Travel Guide – "is about as a unique as luxury boutique hotels get, whether in Florence or some other far-flung locale. This hotel is nestled within an ancient medieval church and a round Byzantine tower (which happens to be the oldest building in town). Simply put: It stops onlookers in their tracks.” The Guide mentions that: “Inside, there’s a bewitching mix of cool, contemporary design elements and a deep sense of history that makes this place an ideal spot for inquisitive guests who want to feel as if they can travel back in time, albeit a time with technological advances and really good food.”
The Brunelleschi Hotel is, moreover, among the first hotels in the world and the first in Italy to become Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED® with Forbes Travel Guide. The comprehensive facility verification helps ensure that guests and travel planners can book with confidence at properties that have appropriate health safety procedures in place. This verification comes with an easily identifiable “seal of approval” – the Sharecare VERIFIED® with Forbes Travel Guide badge – based on a hotel’s compliance with expert-validated “best practices” that minimize the risk and impact of COVID-19 and potential future public health events.
The General Manager Claudio Catani commented: “Our Guests appreciate the Brunelleschi Hotel for its truly unique historical location and the mix of modern and trendy design elements that make it a unique environment in terms of type, charm and experiences. Thanks to our team of professionals, we offer a personalised and emotional service that has allowed us to reach a universally recognized level of excellence.”
Forbes Travel Guide is the world-renowned authority in genuine Five-Star service, and Brunelleschi Hotel is the latest addition to its illustrious annual Star Rating list. Properties were inspected prior to the pandemic and when regional restrictions allowed for the safe return of guests.
“These 2021 award winners are a testament to the resiliency of the hospitality industry”, said Filip Boyen, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide. “During an unprecedented time, these top properties adapted to numerous adversities all while maintaining high service levels and ensuring the health security of their guests and staff.” He added, “We hope that these excellent properties will inspire travelers for when they are ready to venture out on their next trip.”

About Brunelleschi Hotel
The doorway opens onto a cozy square in the heart of Florence, a few steps from the Duomo, Palazzo della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery: the hotel is surrounded by the shopping streets and the most famous museums of the city. The building includes a Byzantine tower dating from the 6th century and a medieval church, completely renovated yet respecting its original features. Inside, a private museum displays exhibits found during the tower restoration and a bath of Roman origin, now set in the foundations. The Brunelleschi Hotel is part of the Florentine Historical Businesses. The hotel has been renovated in a very elegant contemporary yet classic style, where soft shades and the gray color of the typical local stone predominate.
The Santa Elisabetta Restaurant is the hotel's fine dining restaurant and one of the finest gastronomic addresses in Florence. It was awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide 2021; in the Gambero Rosso Guide 2021 with the rating of 2 “forks” and in the L'Espresso 2020 with one “hat”. Located in an intimate dining room with only 7 tables on the first floor of the Byzantine tower that is part of the hotel, it boasts an enviable location, a sophisticated atmosphere and a refined cuisine. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, 12.30 pm to 02:30 pm and 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Since 2017 the menu is signed by Chef Rocco De Santis.
The more informal "Osteria Pagliazza" is located on the ground floor of the hotel and during the summer it also has outdoor tables in the charming square in front of the hotel and offers a delicious menu of dishes based on local ingredients.
