The Brunelleschi Hotel among the "Top 5" hotels in Florence by TRAVEL + LEISURE

10.07.2020

Once again in 2020, the prestigious US travel magazine TRAVEL + LEISURE ranks the iconic Brunelleschi Hotel number 3 among the "Top 5" truly special hotels not to be missed in Florence.

There are very few addresses that Travel + Leisure puts on the list of hotels not to be missed in Florence; for the third consecutive year, the Brunelleschi Hotel is featured among them thanks to those characteristics that make it truly exceptional: in addition to being the epitome of luxury and charm, it offers suites with panoramic views; a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant with the option of eating alfresco; a privileged location a few steps from the Cathedral, it incorporates in its facade the oldest Byzantine tower in Florence. Travel + Leisure, the prestigious US magazine dedicated to the world of travel, draws up every year the ranking for the World's Best Awards based on the opinions that readers are invited to express by sharing their travel experiences. Hotels are rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Readers of the renowned magazine are experienced, sophisticated and demanding travelers, and attentive to the smallest detail.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious and coveted recognition, of particular value in the delicate moment that we are experiencing, and we dedicate it to our beloved clientele, whom we thank deeply for the trust they have in us. I wish to thank the matchless Brunelleschi team and our owners, who have always been dedicated and believe in this special hospitality vision.’’ states General Manager Claudio Catani.

In a city like Florence, that has maintained, unaltered, its charm and splendor, rich in history like an open-air museum that never ceases to surprise, it is essential to stay in a stylish property in the heart  of the city.

The Brunelleschi Hotel combines the exclusive and central location, the charm of the historic and prestigious building, the varied and high-value gastronomic offer of two restaurants (of which the Santa Elisabetta recently was awarded one Michelin star), panoramic suites, elegant lounges, a fitness room. It also includes a small private museum, the remains of a Medieval church and a Roman bath.  In a welcoming ambiance characterized by a modern and refined décor that enhances the ancient.

The Brunelleschi Hotel has received several awards over the years, among which last May, the "Top Luxury Boutique Hotel in Europe" Award by Luxury Travel Advisor, the only Italian hotel to have won this European award. In 2015 Luxury Travel Advisor also presented the General Manager Claudio Catani  the "Top General Manager of the Year Worldwide" Award.

Travel + Leisure ranks the historic Brunelleschi Hotel in the "2020 World's Best Awards" with a score of 93.58 for its elegance and the particularity of incorporating in its façade a Byzantine tower, the city’s oldest building, for its One-Michelin-Star Restaurant, for its location in a quiet little square a few steps from the Cathedral, and above all for the friendly and helpful staff.

About the Brunelleschi Hotel
The doorway opens onto a cozy square in the heart of Florence, a few steps from the Duomo, Palazzo della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery: the hotel is surrounded by the shopping streets and the most famous museums of the city. The building includes a Byzantine tower dating from the 6th century and a medieval church, completely renovated yet respecting its original features. Inside, a private museum displays exhibits found during the tower restoration and a bath of Roman origin, now set in the foundations. The Brunelleschi Hotel is part of the Florentine Historical Businesses. The hotel has been renovated in a very elegant contemporary yet classic style, where soft shades and the gray color of the typical local stone predominate.

The Santa Elisabetta Restaurant is the hotel's fine dining restaurant and one of the finest gastronomic addresses in Florence. It was awarded one star in the Michelin Guide 2020; in the Gambero Rosso Guide 2020 with the rating of 2 “forks” and in the L'Espresso 2020 with one “hat”. Located in an intimate dining
room with only 5 tables on the first floor of the Byzantine tower that is part of the hotel, it boasts an enviable location, a sophisticated atmosphere and a refined cuisine. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, 12.30 pm to 02:30 pm and 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Every Friday and Saturday evening it hosts food and wine events. Since 2017 the menu is signed by Chef Rocco De Santis.

The more informal "Osteria Pagliazza", soon to reopen, is located on the ground floor of the hotel and during the summer it also has outdoor tables in the charming square in front of the hotel and offers a delicious menu of dishes based on local ingredients.
