Airelles announces the forthcoming addition of Château de la Messardière

10.06.2020

The Saint-Tropez icon will become part of the luxury hotel collection from January 2021.

Built in the nineteenth century, Château de la Messardière is a majestic much-loved 5-star palace hotel perched on a hilltop on the outskirts of Saint-Tropez in the Var region, spanning both Provence and the French Riviera. The property with its trademark domed cupolas and turrets has undergone extensive renovation over the last three years and is due to open for the summer season on 25th June 2020 (delayed from 28th April due to the Covid-19 pandemic), prior to joining the prestigious Airelles brand in January 2021.

Château de la Messardière will become the fifth property in the Airelles luxury collection which includes  Les Airelles, Courchevel; Mademoiselle, Val d’Isère; La Bastide, Gordes and the forthcoming Le Grand Contrôle, Château de Versailles, (opening January 2021).

Acquired by Airelles’ parent company, LOV Hotel Collection in May 2019, Château de la Messardière is Saint-Tropez’s largest hotel, occupying 25 acres of glorious grounds overlooking the Cote d’Azur and Provencal countryside. The luxury brand has selected highly-acclaimed French architect and interior designer, Christophe Tollemer to oversee the redesign. Tollemer, also responsible for the interiors at the forthcoming Le Grand Contrôle, Château de Versailles, (opening January 2021) as well as the other properties in the Collection, has taken direct inspiration from the glamourous golden age of the French Rivera incorporating the breath-taking views and magical Mediterranean light.

As part of the renovation, the hotel’s room count will decrease by 33 (from January 2021. The property will have 108 rooms this summer) to create 75 spacious new rooms and suites, each with their own private terrace as well as the creation of three standout signature suites, boasting over 50 sqm of living space located in the turrets of the building. There is also the possibility of combining between 8 and 15 rooms in a separate building at the front of the property to create a private villa-style option with its own private garden and gorgeous ocean views, ideal for families or groups of friends.

All of the public areas will also be completely refurbished including the large 240 sqm outdoor swimming pool and terrace, elegant events spaces and the five food and drink outlets overseen by the talented culinary duo Giovanni Amato and Elena Mosetti, also responsible for the gourmet offerings at sister property Les Airelles.  Wellness will be central to the new-look Château de la Messardière with the creation of a state-of-theart 1,000 sqm Valmont Spa; complete with seven treatment rooms, cryotherapy
chamber, hammam, sauna, indoor swimming pool and fitness centre.

A sparkling Kid’s Kingdom will await all younger guests with its very own Hansel and Gretel-style play cottage. Children will also be able to enjoy the new brand-wide Le Petit Voyageur passport programme which will be given to every child aged between 4-12 years upon check-in.  The colourful passport will set out details of their fact-finding mission to uncover the hotel’s secrets and treasures, making notes and collecting stamps along the way.

With its idyllic setting in the hills above Saint-Tropez, the property provides the most magical backdrop for weddings, events and celebrations with 250sqm of dedicated event space as well as many beautiful locations around the hotel overlooking the fragrant gardens. There is also the option of an exclusive rental of the Château, providing the upmost privacy.

The newly-appointed General Manager, François Arrighi will lead the ‘new-look’ Château de la Messardière into its next exciting chapter.  Well respected in the industry, Arrighi has 25 years of hotel experience and is very familiar with the Airelles brand, having previously held the position of General Manager at the flagship, Les Airelles in Courchevel (2008-2014). Arrighi joins Chateau de la Messardière directly from the Four Seasons Megève and prior to this he was Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris.

From this summer, guests can look forward to a more comprehensive guest experience with a new inclusive rate concept including:
• A generous “à la carte” breakfast with local and international favourites
• In-room mini-bar.
• Transfers to hotel-owned Jardin Tropézina beach club, located five minutes away on the idyllic Pampelonne beach. Sunbed rental for the day is also included.
• All poolside non-alcoholic refreshments.
• Laundry / car washing service.

Château de la Messardière will officially become part of the Airelles collection with full branding from January 2021.

Rates at Château de la Messardière start from 750 euros in a Classic Room based on the new inclusive rate concept.
